Elyse DeJohnette is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the Founder of Heal & Renew Counseling Center, where she provides trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and affirming mental health services to individuals, couples, and families. Elyse is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive therapeutic space where clients can heal from trauma, deepen insight, and move toward emotional renewal at their own pace. Elyse has extensive experience working with individuals impacted by domestic violence, supporting survivors as they navigate the emotional, psychological, and relational effects of abuse. Her approach is victim-centered and trauma-informed, with a strong emphasis on safety, stabilization, empowerment, and restoring a sense of autonomy. She works collaboratively with clients to process trauma, rebuild trust, and develop coping strategies that foster resilience and long-term well-being. Elyse also provides affirming care to members of the LGBTQI community, supporting clients as they navigate identity exploration, relationship dynamics, minority stress, family conflict, and the impact of discrimination or marginalization. Her work is grounded in cultural humility and respect, and she is committed to providing therapy that honors each client’s identity, lived experience, and strengths. Her clinical approach integrates evidence-based practices with a strong foundation in family systems and trauma-informed care. Elyse works with concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, relational distress, life transitions, and intergenerational stressors. She prioritizes collaboration, emotional safety, and empowerment, recognizing that healing occurs within the context of supportive and affirming relationships. In addition to her clinical work, Elyse brings significant experience in clinical leadership, supervision, and program development within community mental health settings. She has overseen trauma-informed programs, supported staff training and development, and ensured ethical and regulatory compliance, reinforcing her commitment to high-quality care and professional integrity.
